The Nutcracker, this Saturday, January 2, 2010 - 1:00pm and 6:00pm!

The Nutcracker 2009
The Nutcracker tells the tale of a young girl, Marie, who is given an enchanted wooden nutcracker soldier on Christmas Eve by her mysterious uncle, a toymaker.  In the middle of the night she awakens to a fairytale world where the Christmas tree grows taller and toy soldiers and mice become life size.  Her brave Nutcracker comes to her rescue and battles the giant creatures lead by the evil Mouse King.  Upon defeating his enemy, the Nutcracker is transformed into a Prince who takes Marie on a magical journey through the Land of Snow to the Kingdom of Sweets.  The Sugar Plum Fairy greets them and calls for a celebration where charmed flowers, whirling Russians, exotic Harem girls, fiery Spanish dancers and other joyful characters entertain Marie.

For nearly four decades, the Conservatory has delighted local audiences with an event well known for its elaborate costumes, vivid scenery and riveting choreography.
